Post: FRSC Emphasizes Health for Motorists During Ember Months

Abuja:The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised motorists to prioritize their health and fitness, particularly during the Ember Months when travel activity increases.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the advice was given by FRSC Corps Public Education Officer, Osondu Ohaeri, at a health outreach programme in Abuja. The event was organized in collaboration with BATMedics, a health initiative providing free community healthcare services, originally linked to support groups for President Bola Tinubu.

The initiative aims to bridge healthcare gaps by offering free medical care and outreach to vulnerable populations. Ohaeri highlighted that the programme aligns with the United Nations Decade of Action on Road Safety, focusing on safer road users, especially drivers and passengers.

He noted that the Ember Months are known for increased travel due to various social, religious, and economic activities. The FRSC stresses that road safety involves not just roads and vehicles, but also the health and alertness of road users.

Ohaeri pointed out that compromised health could lead to impaired vision, fatigue, and poor concentration, increasing the risk of traffic accidents. The outreach seeks to promote preventive healthcare and early detection of health issues.

He expressed gratitude to BATMedics for their partnership, highlighting the program’s success through collaboration among government bodies, civil organizations, and healthcare professionals.

Motorists are advised to avoid driving when sick, tired, or emotionally distressed and to refrain from using alcohol or drugs. Regular medical checks, adequate rest, and maintaining good physical condition are essential for safe travel.

Participants were encouraged to utilize the health services provided and share their knowledge to extend the programme’s impact. Ohaeri reaffirmed the FRSC’s dedication to partnerships that enhance road safety and community health, appreciating all stakeholders for their support.
