Damaturu: The Mobilisation Coordinating Unit (MCU) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe has issued a cautionary statement to governorship aspirants, advising them to avoid actions that could potentially reverse the political advancements achieved in the state. Saidu Jakusko, the Coordinator of the MCU, emphasized this warning through a statement released on Friday. He called for acceptance of Baba Malam Wali as the endorsed governorship candidate by the APC leaders in Yobe.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the endorsement of Baba Malam Wali has sparked opposition from some governorship aspirants within the party. These dissenting voices argue that the endorsement is premature, particularly in light of the upcoming party primary election. Jakusko described Wali as a seasoned politician with a solid background in governance and political leadership, urging fellow party members to back the endorsed candidate.
Jakusko further highlighted that the progress Yobe has experienced over the years is a result of collective efforts and dedication from the stakeholders. He cautioned that any attempt to instigate division or undo these accomplishments would not serve the interests of the state or the ruling party. The MCU coordinator called upon APC members and governorship aspirants to focus on maintaining unity, peace, and stability within the party as they approach future political engagements.
In his statement, Jakusko also offered prayers for divine support, hoping for Allah to grant victory to the APC and foster unity among its members in Yobe.
