Post: Information Minister Calls for Peaceful and Issue-Based Campaigns in APC

Lafia:The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has advised members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to avoid violence and embrace peaceful and issues-based campaigning strategies. This call was made during a political rally organized by the APC North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Movement in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Idris emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and focusing on policy communication as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections. He urged party members and supporters to concentrate on conveying their policies and achievements to the public and to steer clear of actions that could disrupt the democratic process.

Idris highlighted that political campaigns should serve as platforms for parties to present their programs and achievements, engaging voters constructively rather than through confrontation. He expressed confidence in the APC’s capability to persuade the electorate with its policies and the achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The rally was organized to showcase the party’s readiness to rally support for Tinubu’s re-election bid, emphasizing the party’s vision for national development. Idris expressed confidence in the administration’s ability to fulfill its promises to Nigerians, aiming to expand on past achievements for the country’s benefit.

Idris predicted that Tinubu would secure 85 percent of the votes in the North-Central geopolitical zone in the upcoming presidential election, attributing this to the collective resolve of political leaders in the region. This decision to support Tinubu was made collectively by governors, ministers, and other political leaders from the North-Central area, who believe in the benefits that Tinubu’s leadership offers.

The Minister of State for Agriculture, Dr. Aliyu Sabi, also spoke at the rally, highlighting the ongoing grassroots mobilization efforts to garner support for the APC and its candidate ahead of the elections. He encouraged party supporters to remain dedicated to peaceful political engagement and grassroots efforts.

Sabi noted the Tinubu administration’s commitment to tackling food security challenges, emphasizing the president’s prioritization of this issue despite economic hurdles. He mentioned government interventions that have enhanced the stability of the country’s food system and acknowledged the need for further improvements.

He added that the transformation of roads across Nigeria is expected to lower transportation costs, facilitating the movement of agricultural produce and improving food access for citizens.
