Post: Lagos 2027: APC Clears Hamzat for Gubernatorial Primaries


Lagos: The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, has received approval from the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Screening Committee to contest for the party’s 2027 governorship ticket. This development follows Hamzat’s appearance before the 11-member committee in Abuja. The deputy governor shared the news via a post on X, expressing his satisfaction with the process.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the screening committee is chaired by Dr. Benjamin Nwoye. Hamzat described the screening exercise as transparent, deliberate, and excellent. In his statement, he expressed gratitude for receiving a clean bill of approval to proceed in the primaries. Hamzat emphasized that his ambition is rooted in service and continuity, highlighting the current administration’s efforts in establishing a robust foundation for Lagos State’s development.



Hamzat stated that his gubernatorial journey is focused on service and commitment to all Lagosians. He acknowledged the solid foundation laid by the present administration and conveyed his readiness to advance toward a greater and more inclusive Lagos. The deputy governor assured that the work would continue and expressed his eagerness to move forward together with the people of Lagos.



The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the APC commenced the sale of its Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms on April 28, with aspirant screenings scheduled from May 6 to May 9. The APC gubernatorial primary election is set to take place on May 21.
