Post: LGAN Celebrates Akande’s Appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Sweden


Lagos: The Ladies’ Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) has congratulated Lola Akande on her appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Sweden.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, Akande was a former Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.



President Bola Tinubu approved her appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Sweden on March 6, alongside 64 other ambassadors-designate. The ambassadors were assigned to various foreign missions after their confirmation by the Senate.



LGAN President, Lami Ahmed, described Akande as a golfer, disciplined leader, and advocate for women empowerment. Ahmed said Akande’s appointment reflected the values of excellence, grace, and strategic leadership nurtured through golf and public service.



Ahmed remarked that Akande has consistently demonstrated integrity, discipline, and commitment in every responsibility entrusted to her. She represents the strength and resilience of Nigerian women who continue to break barriers in sports, governance, and diplomacy.



She also noted that Akande’s transition from the golf course to diplomatic service was a source of pride to members of LGAN and Nigerians generally. Ahmed added that they are proud to see one of their own representing Nigeria on the global stage, and her appointment is well deserved and inspiring. Akande has always empowered women at the grassroots and encouraged younger generations to pursue excellence with courage and determination.
