Abuja:A Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter has returned to base following a precautionary landing approximately 10 nautical miles from the airfield.
Accourding to News Agency of Nigeria, the landing was disclosed by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Director of Public Relations and Information for NAF. The helicopter had been providing close air support to ground forces during an operation aimed at suspected kidnappers in the Ogbadigbo area of Benue, near the boundary with Enugu, before the incident.
The landing was a precautionary measure in line with established operational and safety procedures following combat missions. The NAF helicopter has since safely returned to its base.
NAF maintains its commitment to exerting pressure on criminal elements, offering close air support to surface forces, and protecting communities through coordinated air and ground operations. This successful outcome highlights NAF’s determination to restrict criminal activities and contribute to restoring safety and security to affected areas.
Earlier reports indicated that another NAF helicopter made an emergency landing due to a technical fault on a farm in Utur Tse-Igboji in the Bar Council Ward of Makurdi, Benue, on Wednesday while on a flight operation.
