Post: NYSC and NOA Reaffirm Commitment to Support INEC for 2027 Elections

Abuja:The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and the National Orientation Agency (NOA) have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining their partnership with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in preparation for the 2027 general elections. This commitment was expressed during a stakeholder engagement focused on election administration and security in Abuja.

Accourding to News Agency of Nigeria, NYSC Director-General Brig.-Gen. Olakunle Nafiu, represented by Mrs. Abdulwahab Olayinka, highlighted the scheme’s robust monitoring systems in place to ensure that corps members adhere to guidelines, remain neutral, and maintain discipline during elections. Nafiu emphasized the NYSC’s ongoing support for INEC, assuring the deployment of trained corps members for election duties.

Nafiu also appealed to political leaders and security agencies to provide a peaceful environment for the electoral process, stressing the importance of safeguarding corps members who participate as ad hoc staff. Moreover, he urged INEC to ensure timely payment of election allowances to corps members.

NOA Director-General, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, outlined the agency’s plans to enhance voter education and grassroots sensitization nationwide. With a presence in all local government areas through its 815 offices, the NOA aims to deliver comprehensive voter education and will soon launch a nationwide voter sensitization initiative.

Issa-Onilu also noted the agency’s extensive collaboration with numerous media outlets and highlighted NOA’s strength in grassroots reach across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas. He reassured Nigerians of the agency’s dedication to promoting civic responsibility and active political participation.
