Abuja: The Nigerian Army has reported significant success in its ongoing operations against terrorist activities across various regions of the country, neutralizing numerous terrorists and apprehending several suspects within the last 24 hours.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the operational report highlights major gains in the North-East, where troops of Operation Hadin Kai engaged insurgents in Borno. The troops disrupted terrorist logistics along the Agapalwa-Chinene axis in Gwoza Local Government Area, forcing them to flee and abandon items such as a motorcycle and food supplies. Additionally, aerial surveillance led to the discovery of two concealed gun trucks in Gallari, Konduga. Other operations saw the destruction of suspected terrorist life-support structures at Gakara high ground and Ndova village, further degrading insurgent capabilities.
The report disclosed that the 21 Special Armoured Brigade successfully neutralized a terrorist during an ambush operation at Dipchari in Bama LGA, with ongoing follow-up operations. In the North-West, under Operation Fansan Yamma, troops successfully repelled a terrorist attack on Forward Operating Base Bagega in Anka LGA, Zamfara, destroying two gun trucks, although attackers managed to capture an RPG tube and damage parts of the camp and community shops.
Troops under Operation Mesa intercepted 76 individuals in Karu LGA, Nasarawa State, suspected of involvement in a dubious recruitment scheme tied to foreign business entities. Preliminary investigations suggest the scheme may be fraudulent, with the suspects currently in custody for further action. Additionally, a suspected terrorist was apprehended along the Lokoja-Abuja road based on credible intelligence, with investigations ongoing.
In Plateau, operations following an earlier attack in Mangu Local Government Area resulted in the recovery of a locally fabricated rifle and ammunition, with troops continuing aggressive patrols and offensive operations across various sectors without major incidents reported.
