Team Nigeria is gearing up for another exciting day at the Paralympic Games taking place in Paris, following their impressive performance on Day 1 as Nigerian athletes are poised to continue their winning streak.
Day 1 Review
At La Chapelle Arena Court 3 on Day 1, Nigeria’s Eniola Bolaji Mariam had a strong start in the Women’s Singles SL3 Para Badminton Group Stage, securing her first win to advance to the next stage. She faced India’s Kaur Mandeep and dominated from the beginning, with the game ending 21-8, 21-14 in Bolaji’s favour.
In the Men’s Singles SL4 Para Badminton Group Stage, Chigozie Jeremiah Nnanna also put on a great performance, defeating Germany’s Marcel Adam 2-0 (21-12, 21-15).
However, in the Men’s Doubles Para Table Tennis round of 16, Nigeria’s Kayode Alabi and Victor Farinloye faced a tough match against China’s Jiaxin Huang and Weinan Peng, who won 3-0 (11-9, 11-5, and 11-8).
In the Mixed Doubles match, Great Britain’s Joshua Stacey and Bly Twomey secured a 3-1 victory over Nigeria
‘s Kayode Alabi and Faith Obazuaye.
