Team Nigeria is set to make a strong impression on Day 4 of the World Athletics U-20 Championships, with several athletes looking to make the nation proud as we preview and review the recent events at the championship in Lima, Peru.
Day 3 Review
On Day 3, Nigerian athlete Ella Onojuvwevwo, who was one of the medal favourites in the women’s 400m final ran brilliantly in the first 300m but faded in the home straight, ultimately finishing 5th in 52.61s.
The winner was Lurdes Gloria Manuel (51.29s) while Dianna Proctor (51.98s) and Zaya Akins (52.00s) placed 2nd and 3rd, respectively.

Nigeria’s sole representative in the 200m, Precious Nzeakor did not progres
s past her heat, recording a time of 24.75s to finish 4th.

17:38: Women’s 4x400m Heats
18:51: Women’s 4x100m Heats
19:29: Men’s 4x100m Heats.
As the U-20 Championships goes on, Team Nigeria’s focus remains on achieving its goals and showcasing the talent and potential of Nigerian athletes on the global stage.
The World Athletics U-20 championships will run from August 27th – 31st, 2024.
