Post: Tinubu Swears in New INEC Commissioner and Permanent Secretaries


Abuja: President Bola Tinubu on Thursday swore in a National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and four new Permanent Secretaries. The brief ceremony took place at the State House, Abuja, shortly before the commencement of the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.



According to News Agency of Nigeria, the appointees took their oaths of office in a single batch and thereafter signed the official register. Retired Rear Admiral Jamila Malafa, from Adamawa State, was sworn in as National Commissioner of INEC to fill the vacant position.



Those inaugurated as permanent secretaries include Mrs. Augusta Warrens from Bayelsa, Dr. Ayinde Shoretire from Ogun, Malam Aminu Yargaya from Kano, and Mrs. Nkiruka Jones-Nebo from Enugu. The event was witnessed by Vice President Kashim Shettima, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, and National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.



Also in attendance were the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, and other top government officials.
