Abuja:Mr. Francis Shoga, Director-General of the City Boy Movement (CBM), has expressed strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s potential re-election, citing significant achievements in infrastructure, agriculture, and economic reforms.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Shoga emphasized the importance of assessing Tinubu’s administration based on tangible developments rather than political rhetoric, as the nation prepares for the 2027 general election. He highlighted key infrastructure projects like the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the 1,068-kilometre Sokoto-Badagry Superhighway as evidence of the government’s commitment to expanding the road network.
Shoga pointed to the deployment of 2,000 tractors under the Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme and the $1.1 billion Green Imperative Project with Brazil as major advancements in agriculture. The establishment of the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development was also noted as part of efforts to enhance food security and agricultural production.
In the energy sector, Shoga mentioned increased crude oil production, investments in upstream operations, and the commencement of operations at the Dangote Refinery as signs of progress. He defended the administration’s response to economic challenges following the removal of petrol subsidies by highlighting the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative, which aims to lower transportation costs through alternative energy solutions.
Shoga also noted improvements in external reserves, inflation moderation, and a reduced debt-service burden as positive outcomes of the administration’s economic reforms. He argued that consolidating these reforms could lead to broader benefits for Nigerians.
The City Boy Movement has been actively mobilizing grassroots support for Tinubu’s re-election, with a goal of securing 10 million youth votes. Shoga stated that this would be achieved through nationwide efforts across wards, local governments, and communities, reinforcing the movement’s backing of Tinubu based on his administration’s ongoing interventions in key sectors.
