Lagos: The Association of Waste Managers of Nigeria (AWAMN) has endorsed the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, as its preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election. The announcement was made by the President of AWAMN, Mr. Olugbenga Adebola, during a news conference held at Alausa, Ikeja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Adebola stated that the association’s endorsement aligns with the position of its Grand Patron, President Bola Tinubu, who had previously expressed support for Hamzat. Adebola highlighted Hamzat’s qualifications, noting his extensive experience and competence as a seasoned technocrat, which makes him well-suited to lead Lagos State.
Adebola elaborated on Hamzat’s impressive track record, emphasizing his previous roles as a commissioner in key ministries and his current position as Deputy Governor. These roles, he argued, are clear indicators of Hamzat’s preparedness for taking on higher responsibilities in governance.
‘There is no other individual with the capacity, capability, tenacity, and experience required to lead Lagos State at this critical time,’ Adebola stated. He further added that Hamzat’s dedication to public service and governance underscores his suitability as a candidate.
Furthermore, Adebola called on other professional bodies and stakeholders to rally behind Hamzat’s candidacy for the governorship. He expressed confidence in Hamzat’s leadership, assuring that Lagos would remain in capable hands under his guidance.
