Post: 2027 Elections: NDC Zones Presidential Ticket to Southern Region

Abuja: The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially announced that its presidential ticket for the 2027 general elections will be zoned to the southern part of the country. This strategic decision was declared at the party’s 1st National Convention, which took place in Abuja on Saturday.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, the motion for zoning the presidential ticket to the south was moved by Rep. Afam Ogene, who represents Ogbaru Federal Constituency of Anambra. This proposal was subsequently adopted by the delegates attending the convention. Ogene stated that the zoning arrangement aims to promote equity, fairness, and national unity not only within the party but also across the nation.

He further explained that the party is committed to providing the southern region the opportunity to produce the next presidential candidate. This move is seen as a step towards strengthening inclusiveness and enhancing democratic participation within the political framework of the country.

With this decision, prominent figures such as former Governor of Anambra, Peter Obi, along with other aspirants from the southern region, are now in a position to proceed and purchase the presidential form of the party.
