Ile-ife: The National President of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Muslim Graduates’ Association (UNIFEMGA), Mohammed Buari, announced the disbursement of over N14.6 million in scholarships to 140 students. The announcement was made during the 2026 Reunion Conference of UNIFEMGA, held at Oduduwa Hall of OAU.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Buari highlighted that the reunion aimed to foster intellectual discourse, networking, and national development. He emphasized UNIFEMGA’s dedication to initiatives that promote unity, moral values, and educational advancement for deserving students.
The event’s guest speaker, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu, Director-General of the National Orientation Agency, delivered a lecture on Nigeria’s potential through positive mindset and communication. Issa-Onilu underscored the nation’s abundant human and material resources, advocating for positive attitudes and collective responsibility to leverage these assets for global prominence.
Issa-Onilu stressed that national progress hinges on the mindset of Nigerians and their active contribution to growth. Despite the country’s rich talent pool, he noted that negative narratives and disunity impede potential development. He urged Nigerians to adopt a positive mindset and collaborate for national success, especially focusing on youth engagement in promoting peace and productivity.
Mr. Abdulkabir Aliu, CEO of Matrix Energy Group and Chairman of the occasion, echoed sentiments about the importance of a positive mindset for national greatness. Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun, represented by Alhaji Bello Adeniyi, praised UNIFEMGA’s societal impact, while Adejare Bello, OAU’s Pro-Chancellor, expressed gratitude for the association’s support to the university and community.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Adebayo Bamire appreciated UNIFEMGA’s annual commitment to national discourse, recognizing the relevance of topics addressed by guest speakers to Nigeria’s development. He lauded the association’s contributions and extended prayers for their continued success.
