Post: Ministry Prepares for 10 Million Women Empowerment Rally: Sulaiman-Ibrahim

Abuja: The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, announced the ministry’s readiness to conduct the maiden 10 million women march aimed at empowering women across Nigeria. The march is scheduled to take place on May 5, focusing on empowering women at the ward level nationwide.

According to News Agency of Nigeria, Sulaiman-Ibrahim emphasized the need for women in the country to unite and engage in a collective movement to achieve their objectives. She highlighted the role of President Bola Tinubu in recognizing the significance of Nigerian women uniting for a common cause. The rally will begin at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, with delegations from every state and ward level. Already, 3,000 volunteers have subscribed to support the organization of the program.

The rally is designed as an empowerment drive, aiming to form clusters of 10,000 women divided into 59 groups of 24, each receiving empowerment funding. Sulaiman-Ibrahim stated that each ward would receive empowerment funds of no less than N10 million, with the expectation of significant impacts on women’s development initiatives.

Hajia Zainab Abubakar Ibrahim, Deputy National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) and Organising Committee Chairman of the rally, assured that all measures are in place for a smooth event. She clarified that the rally is a movement rather than a mere gathering, with the stadium’s capacity set at 60,000.

Dr Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission and sub-committee chairman on media/publicity, emphasized that the rally welcomes women from all political backgrounds. She called on Nigerian women stakeholders to collaborate with the organizing committee to strengthen the collective voice and foster the growth of Nigerian women.
