Abuja: Mrs. Hannatu Gagara, the Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Plateau chapter, has extended her congratulations to Senator David Mark and the members of the National Working Committee (NWC) following the favourable Supreme Court judgement delivered on Thursday.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Mark’s faction in the ongoing leadership dispute within the ADC. The appeal was against a prior decision by the Court of Appeal on March 12, which had dismissed Mark’s challenge to a ruling by the Federal High Court dated September 4, 2025. The case was initially filed by Nafiu Bala, a former vice-chairman of the ADC, who sought to prevent the Mark-led leadership from acting as national officers of the party. The Supreme Court’s five-member panel concluded that the appeal court had overstepped its jurisdiction by issuing a status quo order.
Gagara, a supporter of Mark’s leadership, remarked that the Supreme Court’s decision was a testament to the functionality of the democratic system, highlighting that it allows individuals to seek justice through the courts. She expressed her belief in the system’s ability to deliver fair outcomes, as evidenced by the jubilant reactions to the verdict. Gagara advised Mark to maintain focus and inclusivity to ensure progress for the country.
The chairman also conveyed her confidence in the ADC’s ability to establish a leadership that prioritizes the needs of Nigerians. She emphasized the importance of unity and progress, urging party members to work collaboratively and avoid assigning blame, thus paving the way for the party’s future success.
