Kaduna: The National Chairman of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP), Dr. Hakeem Baba Ahmed, has announced that the party is set to rebuild unity and strengthen its internal reconciliation efforts following a strategic meeting with party elders in Kaduna on Thursday.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Baba Ahmed emphasized the importance of the meeting, describing it as productive and focused on resolving long-standing challenges affecting the party. The gathering brought together PRP elders committed to restoring cohesion and repositioning the party for the 2027 general elections. Baba Ahmed expressed gratitude to the elders for their constructive approach during the discussions.
The chairman stated that the party is working towards building a consensus on addressing internal disagreements and advancing as a united political platform. He acknowledged that some PRP members had been sidelined, but the party is now focused on providing the next leadership for the country, with the support of these elders.
He further noted that the leadership and elders had agreed to collaborate to strengthen the PRP nationwide. Baba Ahmed urged party members to remain confident in the leadership and legacy of the PRP, highlighting the efforts to reach out to members from Abuja and assure them of the party’s readiness to work together.
Alhaji Shehu Isa Kaita, an elder statesman and longtime PRP member, also spoke at the meeting, calling it a turning point in the party’s internal affairs. He mentioned that older members who had been sidelined were now being reintegrated into party activities. Kaita commended the current leadership for reaching out to elders and restoring confidence among longstanding members.
He also noted that previous misunderstandings within the party were due to the actions of former leaders who allegedly neglected committed members. However, he expressed optimism about the renewed cooperation between elders and the current leadership, seeing it as a positive step for the party’s future success in elections.
