Abuja:The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike, has voiced strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, accusing opposition politicians of misleading the public to further their political goals.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Wike, during a news conference in Abuja, emphasized that political competition should not hinder Nigerians from fairly evaluating the president’s accomplishments. He urged political leaders to put aside partisan interests and acknowledge genuine national progress and the administration’s performance.
Wike highlighted that the opposition’s continuous criticism is driven by their desire to gain power rather than an objective evaluation of the administration’s performance. He encouraged political figures to move away from ‘do-or-die’ politics and engage in constructive debates for the sake of national development.
He referenced Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, an opposition leader who recognized some of the current administration’s achievements, as an example that good governance can be acknowledged across party lines.
Defending the multi-party ‘Rainbow Coalition’ that supports Tinubu’s potential re-election in 2027, Wike described the alliance as a pragmatic approach to promoting national unity. He stressed that while political differences remain, the coalition aims to build consensus around a shared vision for Nigeria’s future.
Wike also spoke on his dual role in coordinating support for the president in Rivers and the FCT, stating that effective leadership involves uniting diverse interests around common goals. He called on Nigerians to evaluate the administration based on tangible achievements rather than partisan rhetoric and urged voters to demand accountability from all political contenders.
