Abuja:The Federal Government has released the Consolidated Non-Academic Staff Tertiary Institutions Allowance (CONTA) for non-academic staff at federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, this announcement was made in a statement by Folasade Boriowo, Director of Press and Public Relations at the Federal Ministry of Education. The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, stated that the payment, which covers the period from January to August 2026, highlights the Tinubu administration’s dedication to workers’ welfare and maintaining industrial harmony.
The release of the CONTA allowance is part of the government’s strategy to address the welfare concerns of staff and minimize disruptions in academic activities within tertiary institutions. This development follows the payment of the Consolidated Academic Tertiary Institutions Allowance (CATA) to academic staff, which began on Monday.
Dr. Alausa emphasized that the Ministry of Education will continue to collaborate with relevant unions and institutional authorities to resolve outstanding issues, aiming to foster a stable and productive tertiary education system. He also praised the patience and cooperation of academic and non-academic staff, institutional leaders, and other stakeholders.
The ministry remains committed to implementing policies that enhance staff welfare, ensure institutional stability, and promote human capital development and improved learning outcomes.
