Abuja:The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has formed a strategic collaboration with Greenlunar Nigeria Ltd. to digitalize classified advertising services in the country. This initiative will allow Nigerians to publish change-of-name and other classified ads online without the need to visit newspaper offices.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, NAN Managing Director Malam Ali Muhammad Ali remarked that the partnership is a ‘game changer’ during the agreement signing event in Abuja. He mentioned that the initiative aligns with NAN’s vision of evolving into a technology-driven organization and praised Greenlunar for developing a homegrown solution that could revolutionize the classified advertising industry.
Ali highlighted the potential benefits of the initiative, citing the ability of young Nigerians to create solutions in fields traditionally dominated by foreign technology firms. He expressed confidence that the digital platform would save time, improve efficiency, and offer new revenue opportunities for NAN.
The digitalization effort is expected to streamline processes, although certain legal procedures requiring court validation will remain unchanged. Ali directed relevant departments within NAN to familiarize themselves with the new technology and mentioned plans to engage with the Ministry of Interior, the judiciary, and other stakeholders to leverage the technology for official notices.
Greenlunar’s CEO, Mr. Olaniyi Odina, explained that the company focuses on software development and digital solutions across various sectors. The platform promises a more affordable, reliable, and convenient method for Nigerians to publish change-of-name advertisements from home, reducing dependency on traditional newspaper outlets.
Odina revealed that the partnership with NAN marked a significant achievement for Greenlunar, realizing a vision pursued for seven years within a short span of one month. He tied the initiative to the Federal Government’s broader policy on digitizing public and administrative processes, expressing optimism about the platform’s operational readiness soon. Odina also extended gratitude to the NAN Managing Director and his team for their support in bringing the initiative to fruition.
