Abuja:A security guard named Friday Zeko appeared in a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Wuse for allegedly selling chicken feeders belonging to his employer, valued at N5,000,000.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, the Prosecution Counsel, Chinenye Okafor, explained that the complainant, Udoh Ejikeme, reported the incident to the Kabusa Police Station on September 19. Ejikeme had employed Zeko as a security guard at his poultry farm located in Ketti village, Airport road, Abuja.
Okafor alleged that Zeko sold 200 pieces of chicken feeders without Ejikeme’s consent, which is a violation under Section 312 of the Penal Code Law. Zeko pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Defence Counsel, Helen Akpala, sought bail for Zeko, referencing Sections 158 and 162 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA). Akpala requested the court to grant bail, assuring that Zeko had a credible surety.
Magistrate Oyepeju Mustapha granted bail to Zeko set at N1 million, requiring two sureties who must live and work within the court’s jurisdiction. The sureties are also required to provide identification and have their addresses verified by the court registrar.
The case has been adjourned to October 19 for further hearing.
