Abuja:Dr. Mary Idele, the National Women Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been named Director-General of the APC Women Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections. This announcement was made by Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, during the pre-inauguration of the Women Mobilisation Directorate in Abuja.
According to News Agency of Nigeria, Idele expressed that her new role places her at the forefront of the party’s efforts to mobilize women for the upcoming presidential election, aiming to secure the re-election of President Bola Tinubu. As director-general, she is tasked with coordinating and providing strategic direction for the APC’s women-focused campaign efforts across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
Idele outlined her plans to lead initiatives that mobilize women voters and party members at the grassroots level. She aims to enhance women’s participation in the campaign and communicate the administration’s policies and achievements to women throughout the country. The campaign council will engage with women’s groups, market associations, professional bodies, community organizations, and grassroots networks to support Tinubu’s re-election bid.
Furthermore, the council intends to counter misinformation, promote issue-based campaign messages, and highlight policies beneficial to women, families, and communities. Idele emphasized that her leadership would build on the existing women mobilisation structures within the APC, transforming them into an effective grassroots campaign network in preparation for the 2027 elections.
The initiative seeks to give women a central role in the APC’s campaign strategy, focusing on voter mobilisation, political sensitisation, and community-level engagement. Idele believes her appointment will consolidate efforts to leverage the numerical strength and organizational capacity of women, working with APC women leaders and stakeholders nationwide to mobilize support for Tinubu and encourage active participation in the electoral process.
